James Sclavunos

James Sclavunos, memorably described in the pages of The Wire as an “infamous elegant degenerate” , has been a key player in Nick Cave’s illustrious Bad Seeds since 1994. During that time, James has also forged his own musical ensemble, The Vanity Set and their acclaimed debut album, The Vanity Set, is now available in the US.

Native New Yorker James has long been a prime mover on the city’s vibrant underground music scene, helping to kick start the vital No Wave revolution (in Teenage Jesus & the Jerks & Eight Eyed Spy), before playing with such flaming hellions as Sonic Youth and The Cramps .
